Abstract
The aim of this work is to compare the changes in serum lipids, lipoproteins and apolipoproteins together with change in blood glucose, liver and kidney functions in the oral versus vaginal use of combined contraceptive pills.
Conclusions:
It can be concluded that the changes in serum lipids, lipoproteins and apolipoproteins, blood glucose, liver and kidney functions in the vaginal route of administration are comparable with those in case of the oral route. Again, the vaginal route might be favourable in its effect on serum albumin and total protein. However, this would imply that further studies including big numbers of subjects and longer periods of follow up are needed before generalisation of these findings.
