Abstract

The purpose of this work is to study the possibility of using the reinforced polymers like poly vinyl chloride (PVC) for natural gas transportation at high pressure approximately 5 MPa instead of using steel pipeline. This type of reinforced polymer will minimize cost and increase the life time of the pipeline.
The polymer used in the study is poly vinyl chloride (PVC), this type of polymer is widely used in industry more ever it’s available and cheap in price.
Three types of resins were used at different thickness, epoxy resin polyester resin and poly vinyl acetate. These resins can make uniform distribution of stress on the reinforced polymer.
In order to improve the bond strength of plastic plate, trails were made by adding different weight fractions of the dispersed phase in the adhesive matrix i.e. by adding a glass fiber in amount from 0.01 gm ,0.02 gm , 0.03 gm ,0.04 gm ,0.05 gm and adding a textile fiber in one layer.
In addition a series of experimental were carried out to determine the influence of the environmental conditions as PH values and temperature on the bond strength. The bond strength of specimen was measured in this study throughout measuring several mechanical tests such as tensile ,impact and adhesion shear test.
