Abstract
This work was specified to take part in solving the problem of possible use of the commercial herb collections called some times herb recipes or herb formulae. These prescriptions are formulated and sold in spice hops by the trader, without any scientific bases, but mostly depending on old books of traditional medicine. Very few they are produced by large companies, but their use is an archival recently, much clamor was arisen by doctors and medical authorities against such prescriptions, due to possible great harm. In the present study a total number of g commercial herbs collections were investigated on
rats, in reflected of diabetes mellitus, hypercholesterolemai and renopathly. Biological, biochemical and histopathological parameters were taken into consideration for appropriator rejection of any commercial herbal collection. The results arrived at revealed the following: The present study indicated that only 11.11% of tested herb collection could be advised (one of 9 tested collections). It explained that the percentage of hemoglobin and glucose and liver function, kidney function are not less than the Control negative (-)and We find that even if improved results for the Control positive (+) for this group we find problems in the textile sector Histopathology of organ (liver, kidney and heart) Academic departments, such as food & nutrition Depts., faculties of home Economics should be called to carry out detailed studies on the value and safety of commercial herb prescriptions. The government should be involved for regulation of commercial poly herbal formulation trade, via health authorities depending on results from academic sector. Commercial poly herbal formulations are actually numerous, covering rarely all known diseases, so it is suggested to design a national projects to study their impacts (positive and negative) because of large finance needed Moreover, the word natural (for herbs) does not mean safe.
