Abstract The present investigation is an attempt to study the ability of some locally isolated fungal species to utilize 1. Twenty one fungal species isolated from Egyptian soils were screened for their ability to utilize cellulosic waste materials for SCP production. Fusarium equiseti was the best protein producer among the fungal species tested. bagasse was the most favourable for SCP production by F. equiseti. KN03 at a concentration equivelanet to 0.3 g Nil was the most favourable nitrogen source. 3. Optimum pH and temperature for SCP production by F. equiseti were 3.0 and 300C respectively. 4. Determination of biomass and protein production by F. concentration. 5. Non of the vitamins or the minerals tested except Zn+2 increased protein production by F. equiseti. Addition of Zn+2 to the fermentation medium increased slightly protein and biomass production. |
