Abstract This investigation was carried out at Sids Experimental Station, Agricultural Research Center, during 1999 and 2000 and 2001 seasons to study some genetic parameters, scaling tests and phenotypic and genotypic correlations among studied characters of earliness, yield and its components in addition to fiber properties in two intra-specific cotton crosses between three varieties belong to Gossypium barbadense L. The two crosses were (Giza 90 x Australian)cross I and (R. Giza 83 x Giza 90)crossII. The study procedure started by planting parents in 1999 season and crossing among them to produce the F1 hybrids. In 2000 season, the parents were crossed again to obtain more F1 hybrids seeds. Moreover, the F1 plants were back crossed to both parents to produce backcrosses, in addition to selfing the F1 hybrid plant to produce F2 seeds. In 2001 season, the six populations i.e.,P1,P2,F1,F2,BC1,BC2 of each cross were grown in a randomized complete block design with four replications to collect the observations and measurements. |
