Abstract This study was carried out at the Animal Production Research Station of Sids (Research Institute of Animal Production, Agricultural Research Center, Ministry of Agriculture) during the years 1997-1998. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of substituting 30 % of concentrate mixture by using ground date seeds or 30 % or 60 % date seeds/litter silage as a source of carbohydrate and broiler litter as a source of protein in feeding lactating buffaloes and its effect on digestibility of nutrients, nutritive values, some ruminal and blood prameters as well as on milk production and its composition. Digestion trials were conducted using sheep to evaluate the feeding value of the concentrate mixture, date seeds and date seeds/litter silage. In all trials rice straw was used as basal diet. The value obtained for feeding value for each experiment represented the feeding value of both the rice straw plus the tested ingredient. |
