Abstract This thesis is designed to make available, in a convenient form, a wide range of comput~r programs of interest to both chemists and chemical engineers. An outline of the object of each program is shown in each section. Section 1 deals with the number of plates in the distillation column in three types of mixture, and the determination of temperature and heat content on each plate of the colwnm in order to obtain a specific composition of the top and bottom products, using thermodynamic relations. Section 2 deals with computation of equilibrium flash vapourization data by conversion of experimental ASTM Dl160 data for petroleum fractions under vacuum. Section J deals with the experimental thermal conductivity for glass-wool, the optimum thickness giving minimum heat loss and the surface temperature of the insulator. Heat losses in steam pipelines, using the thermal conductivity by _ASTM.method()O) and probe method ()2) were compared. Section 4 deals with different cuts of gasoline containing low percent of olefines which were tested using infra-red spectroscopy and the obtained graphs are -computerized. Th~-obtained results are then compared with fluorescent indicator adsorption reference method. The different uses of these cuts are then determined after knowing their chemical composition. |
