Abstract

Aim of the work
The aim of this work is to study the rheumatic manifestations of thyroid dysfunction i.e. hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism.
The rheumatic manifestations are detected by means of clinical evaluation, laboratory investigations and radiological examination.
Conclusions and Recommendations
Thyroid dysfunctions are associated with wide variety of rheumatoid manifestations which vary in hyperthyroidism and in hyperthyroidism.
Thyroid dysfunction is a major risk factor for osteoprosis and should be considered and investigated in every patient with thyroid dysfunction.
Correction of hormonal level is mostly associated with improvement of rheumatic manifestations except with osteoporosis and neuropathy.
Autoimmunity is claimed in many rheumatic manifestations to be the cause of them, and this was confirmed in this study in many of them, also, these symptoms correlate well with severity of the disease.
Antiresorptive therapy is recommended in patients with hyperthyroidism and in patients indicated for thyroxin therapy, because controlled groups didn’t show lower prevalence of osteoporosis.
