Abstract
Hospitalization Precipitates Many Stressful Feelings And Reactions. The hospitalized Indvidual Becomes Exceptionally Sensitive And Vulnerable, For Essentially he Becomes A Person Who Has To Place In Question, Nearly Everything Of His Routine Daily Pattern.(2) Although Many Of The Sources Of Psychological Stress To WhichAll Hospitalized Patients Are Exposed To Are Somewhat Similar, there Are Some That Are Peculiar To Or More Likely To Occur Among Surgical Patients.(6) Surgical Patients In The Preoperative Period Are Exposed To Mulriple Stressors In The Course Of Their Illness And Therapy.
