Abstract
Summary
The present thesis aims at studying the increase of tourism flows
and its impact on the environment in Sharm El Shiekh for the purpose of
attaining the following general goals:
I-Determination of the environmental awareness among tourists
2-Ensure a sustainable tourism development that meets the need of the
present without compromising the ability of the future generation to meet
their own needs.
Also, the significance of this work is to shed some light on the
importance of the scientific background in the field oftourism and the
environment.
The present work depends upon the following two hypothesis:
1- Tourism has a bad effect on the environment in Sharm El Shiekh.
2- There is a shortage of environmental awareness among tourists in
Sharm El Shiekh.
3- There is a shortage in implementing the environmental rules in Sharm
El Shiekh.
The obtained results from both the questionnaire and personal
observations prove the right of all hypotheses. But the personal
interviews with some experts in the Egyptian Environmental Affaires
Agency (EEAA) indicate that there is a great effort in protecting the
natural resources in the area, and also there is a training cent er in Ras
Mohammed Protected Area to raise tourists’ environmental awareness
