Abstract In this thesis an experimental and theoretical investigation of simply supported rectangular slabs is carried out and presented. The view was to study the effect of the steel arrangement on the behaviour and strength of reinforced concrete slabs with particular emphasis to the case of slabs subjected to line load¬ing. The experimental work was undertaken to study two sets of slabs under central line load, the difference between the two sets was the type of the supports. Three theoretical methods of analysis were presented in this thesis. The first was an elastic approach, the second was the strip method and the theard was the yield line method. |
