Abstract ABSTRACT: Survey and population density of rodent species were carried out at three localities (houses, granaries and poultry farm) in El-Ibrahemia district, Sharkia Governorate during two successive years (2004/2005 and 2005/2006). The results revealed that there were five rodent species; Rattus rattus frugivorus, R. r. alexandrinus, R. norvegicus, Mus musculus and Acomys cahrinus. The highest rat index was recorded in the houses, followed by the granaries and the poultry farm. The white bellied rat was the most dominant species in the three localities. Also, the results of survey of ectoparasites associated with rodent species indicated that there were five flea species, three mite species and two lice species. It could be concluded that the wheat was the most preferable crop to rodents recorded the highest average percentage of damage followed by maize and rice.
