Abstract This study was carried out in two successive seasons (2004 and 2005) on Canino apricot trees grown in Abou Swear region, Ismailia Governorate. The trees were of 7- year – old, budded on Baladi apricot root stock and planted 5 X 5 meters apart. This study aimed to investigate the effect of spraying Dormex, KNO3, GA3 and CaCl2 on flowering, fruit set, fruit DROP, yield, fruit quality and fruit storability. The obtained results showed that: *Floral bud induction occurred in the period from the last week of May up to third week of June. These results mean that spraying GA3 must be prevented in that period otherwise the next crop will be completely destroyed. * Spraying Dormex 3 % at 27th January gave the best results concern floral buds opening and fruit set and final fruits retention. * Fruits DROP were concentrated in the period from the second week of March up to the end of April. * The harvest crop was earlier by 10 – 12 days than control as a result of Dormex 3 % sprayed at 15th or 27th January. * The highest yield was harvested from trees sprayed with Dormex 3 % at 15th or 27th January. * Fruit physical characteristics and fruit chemical properties enhanced by GA3, Dormex and CaCl2 treatments. * Fruits storability was improved by KNO3, GA3 and CaCl2 treatments under cold or shelf storage. |
