Abstract The Gahal El Sibai Wadi Zeidun district covers an area of approximatey 3000 ions2 comprising the mcuntaineous country forwed of bosement crystalline rocks in the central part of the Eastern Desert, Egypt. Generalized photogeo logical maps for the different areas in the district has been compiled from photogeological maps by previous workers, The district under consideration was subdivided into four areas 1- Wacli Sham El Bahari — - aei hizr area, in the coas tal plain of the Red Sea, 2- Gebal Kadabora El -Iamra, in Gzbal El Sibsi area. 3- Gahal Umm Naggat axea in Gabal El Sibai area, 4- XTadi Zeidun area. Faults are the most important structural features in the district. Two main sets of faults are encountercd. The first is the younger and trends NW—SSE, while the second set of faults are the oldest and trends approxima4t-_ely perpen— dicular to the first one, and is displaced in many places Most of the main fw drainage chsnnels are controlled by this set of faults. |
