Abstract The aim of this work was to study leptin profile in adult overweight and obese individuals, and also to determine if there was relationship between serum leptin concentration and body weight. The subjects under study were 100 adults randomly chosen from the adults visiting outpatient clinic of the National Nutrition Institute. The sample were subjected to the following studies : 1. Socio –economic studies : Including Educational level. Social score, Family size, Marital status, Transportation used, Activities and sports, Nature of work, Hours watching T.V, Using computer, and sleeping hours. With regard to educational level, it was found that 41.7% of overweight males can read and write only and the same percent had school graduation. The highest percent of obese male subjects were university graduated (55.0%) . The majority of overweight females (80.0%) were university graduated , while 47.7% of obese females had school graduation. |
