Abstract In chapter 1 a literature survey on azide complexes was given and mentioned. This survey clasified several points. (i) While the azido group is able to coordinate via different modes, the factors that govern its mode of bonding are not fully understood. (ii) Azido complexes of many transition elements have not yet been reported. (iii) The correlation between infrared absorption vibraations as well as magnetism and mode of bonding of the azido groups need a lot of work. Because of these points the azido-complexes of Mn(II), Fe(II) and some Co(II) and Ni(II) of pyridine derivatives ligands have been the subbject of this study. Chapter 2 is devoted for the experimental part. The preparation of azido complexes of the type ML2(N3)2 and ML4(N3)2 where L is pyridine (py), 3-chloropyridine (33Clpy) , 4-chloropyridine (4-Clpy), 4-bromopyridine (4-Brpy), 3-picoline (3-pic), 4-picoline (4-pic), 4-ethylpyridine (4-Etpy), 3-pyridinecarboxaldehyde (3-pyal), 4dine (4-Acpy), 4-cyanopyridine (4-Cypy), methyl nicotinate (MeN), ethyl nicotinate (EtN), methyl isonicotinate (MeIN) and ethyl isonicotinate (EtIN) are described. |
